EMPTIES - MARCH/APRIL 2018

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to be starting a new series of mine, where I go through my beauty products that I have finished and share my thoughts. I really enjoy reading these kinds of posts, so figured I would start my own! I am not sure as of yet how often I will do these posts, but I will let you know at some point in the future. All of these products I have used up myself, and most have been bought myself. If a product is a press sample, I will mark the title with an '*' symbol to highlight which products I was gifted. All opinions are my own however. Also, any links to products are non-affiliated and are there to make it easier for you to find the products (I hate having to search for products myself in all honesty!).

So, on to the products!

NYX HD CONCEALER - SHADES 01 PORCELAIN & 02 FAIR
The first product on the list I have actually used up two variations, and that is the NYX HD Concealer. I bought two different shades of this, 01 which is slightly lighter than my actual skin colour which I like to use for a lifting/ brightening effect. Shade 02 is more like my actual skin shade and so works well for natural looks where I want my skin to look more real. This concealer is £6 to buy and I got both of mine from Boots. It comes in 22 shades including colour correcting shades so there should hopefully be a shade for everyone. Overall, the product itself I really like, the formula is lightweight but does provide great coverage. I used mine mostly under the eyes and really liked the effect it gave. All in all, I think it is a great concealer for the price and one I will repurchase in the future. The concealer feels very light on the skin, despite it being medium coverage. The only downside I can think of is that the applicator doesn't apply lots of product and so it takes a little more time to apply. This is a minor flaw to me and they have recently changed the packaging so maybe the applicator has also changed. Would I repurchase this? yes I would. I really liked both shades and they both worked for me so I would definitely consider repurchasing in the future, and they have a new shade which looks even lighter than shade Porcelain I have noticed (the name is Alabaster) which I would definitely like to try. NYX is also cruelty-free which is an added bonus. Find a link to the concealer on Boots here.

PALMER'S COCONUT OIL FORMULA  BODY CREAM*
The next product I have used up recently is the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Body Cream. For someone who never used body cream up until recently I am so happy to have used this up and I absolutely loved it! It smells like coconut which is one of my favourite scents and just makes my skin feel smooth, nourished and makes it smell lovely too. I especially loved using this throughout the summer when I felt like my skin really needed the extra care as I had more skin on show, as well as the scent making it more summer like. It is on the heavier side of body creams and so I wouldn't suggest layering it up too much, but as an option for when the skin needs some extra care it is great. I am really impressed with Palmer's as a brand, and everything I have tried from them I have loved so far. This body cream retails at £5.25 and so is affordable, and can be bought from Boots/Superdrug online, and possibly some stores/other stockists. I would definitely repurchase this! It also contains no parabens, mineral oil, gluten, sulfate, dyes or phthalates and is ethically/sustainably sourced, which is always a bonus. Find this product on the Boots website here.

ROSSI UVEMA AVOCADO & GREEN TEA CLEANSING LOTION*
Next on the empties list is Rossi Uvema's Avocado & Green Tea Cleansing Lotion. I really enjoyed using this, the cleanser itself has a cream-like consistency which I enjoy using. This is recommended ofr dry/sensitive skin which I wouldn't say I have but I still really enjoyed the benefits of using this and it left my skin feeling clean but also still hydrated, and wasn't stripping in any way. I have used this for taking off makeup and it does so effectively, and I had no issues with using this on my eyes. It does smell like green tea, and the scent is fairly strong but this product is 100% natural and so the fragrance isn't artificial in any way and isn't overpowering. This is £14.25 to buy which is fairly affordable, and it did last me a while. The bottle is 100ml for reference. I find this cleanser very soothing and gentle on the skin whilst also being effective at actually cleansing. I would go on to buy this product. Find it on the Rossi Uvema website here.

MAUI MOISTURE SHEA BUTTER SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER*
The next products I have recently used up are a duo from Maui Moisture. I haven't ever tried anything from them before, but was given their Shea Butter shampoo/conditioner to try out. These retail for £8.99 each and can be bought at Boots/Superdrug. I absolutely loved these two products. I noticed a huge difference in the quality of my hair from day one, with it looking so much healthier and shiny. It has a great moisturising quality without weighing my hair down or leaving a horrible filmy feeling. Both products lasted me a while (around a month and a half) which is great considering I wash my hair daily and have long hair. The scent of this range is so lovely, and left my hair feeling, looking and smelling great. These products are free from SLS which is important to me, as well as being free from silicone, artificial colours and mineral oils. These products are also vegan friendly. I would definitely purchase these in the future, and am really looking forward to trying out the hair mask they sent too. You can find these products on the Boots website here.

MAYBELLINE MATTE MAKER POWDER - SHADE 10 CLASSIC IVORY
Next I have the Maybelline Matte Maker powder, a product that I have bought a few times now and love. The shade I get is super light and extra matte which I find great for my very oily skin. I must admit this powder is very mattifying so I wouldn't recommend it for those with dry skin. It helps to absorb shine however and is very affordable at £3.99. I got mine from Boots, although I must say I am disappointed to see that they only have four shades available. Overall though I love this product and will continue to repurchase it in the future as it does the job, suits my extra pale skin at the moment and doesn't cost me a lot! Find this on the Boots website here.

NIVEA CARING SHOWER SILK MOUSSE - CREME SMOOTH*
The next item I have is from Nivea and is their Caring Shower Silk Mousse, and this one in particular is the creme smooth one (there are four to choose from). This is a shower mousse, which is a twist on your standard shower gel. This was the first shower mousse I have ever actually used, and I really liked this. It lathers up into a mousse-foam and feels lovely on the skin compared to regular shower gel. The scent of this one is also very simple but nice - a very clean soapy scent. I found this did the job of washing my body, but also made my showers feel a little more luxurious. At £2.99 this is really affordable, and I would definitely purchase this myself. You can find this and the other variations on the Boots website here.

PALMER'S COCOA BUTTER FORMULA FACIAL CLEANSING OIL*
Next I have another product from Palmer's, which is their Cocoa Butter Formula Facial Cleansing Oil. This I really enjoyed using, removed makeup very well, didn't irritate my eyes at all and left my skin feeling clean but not stripped away - something I look for in a cleanser. I love the scent of this (and all of the Palmer's products it seems) as it smells just like cocoa. This is free from parabens, phthalates and dyes and is suitable for all skin types. I really loved using this, and I love the pump dispenser too. It is only £7.99, making it very affordable and is sold on the Superdrug website here making it easy to get hold of too. I would definitely buy this myself!

L'OREAL GLAM BRONZE CUSHION DE SOLEIL
The next product I am very surprised at how much I enjoyed using this to be honest. It is the L'oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil bronzer, which is a liquid bronzer in a cushion-style compact. I bought this as it was reduced in Boots on a whim, and absolutely love it. I wore it most days throughout last summer. It provides a beautiful warm, glowy bronzed look and looks so natural as the liquid formula is very easy to blend. I believe this is only available in one shade which means it won't be suitable for everyone which is disappointing but for me the shade really does work well. Unfortunately since writing this I have noticed it is not sold at Boots/Superdrug anymore and so I am not sure if this means they will be discontinuing it (I really hope not!). I did find this however on Feel Unique and is priced at £14.99. I would definitely repurchase this! Find the link here.

FRICTION FREE SHAVING ROSE RAZOR & CATIONIC SHAVE CREAM*
The next two products are something I never thought I would be talking about on here but most people do use a razor, and so it makes sense to talk about them more as their are some pretty bad razors out there. The Rose razor from Friction Free Shaving however I have actually been very impressed with. The razor itself feels well-made and I did notice a difference when shaving with this. Friction Free Shaving actually offer a subscription service which is monthly based and is £9 a month. £9!! For this you get four razor heads, one for every week which I find is plenty to get enough good use out of each blade. This means you're paying £2.25 a week which in my opinion is definitely worth it, and they even have a more affordable option available, for just £5 a month. All in all I think this a great way of saving hassle, time, money, and the horrible realization when you come to shave that all your razors are blunt (is it just me who has this?). I also think this is a much more enviromentally-friendly option as it saves you having to buy a whole disposable razor each time. With my razor I actually received the Cationic shave cream, which is an addition of theirs you can add on to your box for £6 a month. I did like this shave cream, although I would suggest using it on areas with shorter hair/less coarse hair as I found it to be most effective with that hair type, as it is more of a cream style than a foam. It contains Manuka honey, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil which helps to retain moisture in your skin, and I found this worked well on my legs especially which can get very dry when shaving. You can also get your razor personalised like mine which costs £5. I do have a code which can get you 25% off your first order and that code is 'PVYX21'. This is an affiliate code and I will get paid if you use it (just to let you know!). You can find Friction Free Shaving here.

CAUDALIE VINOSOURCE MOISTURIZING SORBET
Next I have a miniature product from Caudalie, which is a brand I hadn't tried anything from before. I received a 10ml sample of their Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet in a subscription box, and was very excited to try it. I love this stuff. It's quite lightweight which I really like but leaves the skin feeling so smooth and soft and makes your skin feel great basically. It's hydrating despite being lightweight and I loved using it as part of my daytime skincare. As someone with oily skin I don't like to strip my skin of hydration but some products can be too rich for me, but this is perfect. It has a light scent which isn't overpowering and is a gel/cream consistency. This product is £23 which is out of my normal budget unfortunately, so I won't go on to repurchase it myself but in an ideal world I definitely would. Luckily for me I actually received another sample of it in another subscription box so I am stocked up for a little longer. You can find this on the Caudalie website here.

BEING BY SANCTUARY SPA BODY WASHES - HIBISICUS & COCONUT WATER/SALTED CARAMEL & MACADAMIA
The next two products are the same but different scents, and they are the Being by Sanctuary Spa body washes. I won these little mini versions in a competition they held on Instagram, but I have tried and used a full-size of the Hibisicus & Coconut Water scent in the past. When I say these smell amazing, they really do smell amazing and I love that the scent stays on your body after the shower. My favourite out of the two is the Hibisicus & Coconut Water one, which reminds me of summer as it is all I used last year in the summer time, and it's coconut/fruity/tropical scent is the perfect scent for summer. If I could smell like one thing for the rest of my life, it would be this scent. The salted caramel & macadamia scent is also very nice, but is more on the sweet side so great for anyone who loves those kind of scents. Being by Sanctuary also sell body lotions, body mists, bath bombs, body scrubs and bubble bath, all in the two scents as well as three others. I love this brand, it is one of my new all time favourites and I will definitely be buying from them in the future, as there are so many products I would love to try from them. You can find the body washes at £6 each on the Boots website here as well as the other products in the range.

PAPAYA GOLD PAW PAW BALM*
The final product for this post is the Papaya Gold Paw Paw balm. Now, as someone who used to collect lip balms I think this is actually the first one I have finished in years (no exaggeration). This balm is great, it's multi-purpose and can be used pretty much anywhere on your body. I love it for really dry areas of skin, my cuticles and my lips. It is quite a thick consistency and so I  wouldn't use it as an all-over moisturiser but for areas that need protection and intense hydration this is great. It contains no parabens/sulphates too, which is always a bonus. I feel as though there's not an awful lot I can say about this but it really is great and I can see what all of the fuss around Paw Paw balm is about. I even use this sometimes as a highlighter for when I have no makeup on but want my skin to look extra glowy. I have also used this as a glitter adhesive, by applying a small layer to my face and putting the glitter over the top, which is great if you want a more skin-friendly product. You can find Papaya Gold on the Boots website for £5.99 and it literally lasts forever (I have had mine for about two years!!) here is the link.

So that was everything for this post! I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of the products I have used up recently! Let me know if you liked reading this post, and if you have tried any of the products mentioned!

Love,
