EMPTIES #2 - MAY/JUNE 2018

Hello everyone!

Today is the return of my new empties series, where I talk through the products I've used up recently and share my thoughts! I started this last month, and I plan to do this around every month for the forseeable future. All products marked with an '*' are PR samples and have been sent to me, but opinions are my own.

On to the products!

SUKIN SUNLESS BRONZING GEL*
This gradual tanning gel from Sukin is one of my favourite products at the moment. It's a gradual self tanner, and comes in a gel texture which I really like. The gel itself has a tint of colour to it, so from application there is a very subtle colour, which gradually intensifies. I tend to use this every 2-3 days and it works wonders for me as I am not a fan of regular self tanning products and much prefer the gradual tan approach as I find it easier, plus I don't have to worry about prepping my skin or it being patchy/too dark. This product is paraben free, SLS/SLES free, 100% carbon neutral and 100% vegan which is always a bonus and retails for £14.95 at Holland & Barrett. I love that this dries very quickly and doesn't have that strong fake tan scent. All in all I think it's a great product, and one I will continue to use all summer! I love this so much I have actually just finished my second bottle, and would definitely get it again.

EYETREAT SPA BY MASQUEBAR EYE MASK PATCHES*
The Eyetreat my Masquebar eye patches retail for £9.99 for 5, and claim to reduce puffiness, increase the elasticity around the eye and make the skin feel smoother tighter and firmer. I have only recently got into using eye masks but I enjoyed this one, it stays on the eye which is great and doesn't slip around on the skin. It has a cooling effect, which I find makes my eyes feel soothed and calms them down. For just under £2 a use, I would say these are worth it as a treat when your eyes need that extra bit of TLC. Another bonus of these is that they are dry on the side that doesn't touch your eye, which means they are great for pre-makeup prep.

REAL TECHNIQUES MIRACLE COMPLEXION SPONGE
The next item I have used recently, although not technically an empty is my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. This is £5.99 and is definitely worth it! I have been using this sponge instead of a brush for over a year now and I decided to buy a new one as this one started getting tears, losing it colour and elasticity. I bought another one recently and am still using and loving it! I don't have a Beauty Blender to compare it to personally, but this is the best makeup sponge I have used and its so affordable! I will definitely continue to purchase this when necessary!

BUFF UP SEA SALT BODY SCRUB*
Next is the BUFF Body Care sea salt body scrub in the 'up' scent. I was lucky enough to be able to try all of the scents BUFF has to offer, and I absolutely love their sea salt scrubs, which are 100% natural, handmade and eco-friendly/ marine conscious. Created in Devon, 2% of the profits raised from the products also goes to The Marine Conservation Society. The scrubs feel amazing, really exfoliate your skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth. My favourite scent is the Naked scent, but they are all lovely and I would definitely recommend checking Buff Bodycare out via their website. They also sell body oils which are great too! The size I have is the 60ml size, which retails for £12.

LIZ EARLE INSTANT BOOST SKIN TONIC SPRITZER
Overall, I didn't really enjoy using this. I found it irritated my skin a little, and didn't give me the effect I enjoy from other face mists/spritzers. This is the second product I have tried from Liz Earle and I was disappointed. I personally wouldn't purchase this again, and I am glad it was only a small bottle I got in a gift set so didn't spend the £6.50 on this one directly. All in all it wasn't for me, and I much prefer similar products I have tried that are more affordable and give me better results. I do love Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish so am not put off them as a brand, but I just found this wasn't for me sadly!

COLLECTION EXTREME 24HR EYELINER PEN
This is one of those products I always come back to. It’s really affordable at £2.99, and is available at most Boots/Superdrug stores. Felt tip liners are my favourite, I find them so easy to use and this one isn’t a let down. It’s very opaque, a very black shade of black (if that makes sense?) and lasts a while considering. I find felt tip liners don’t ever last as long as inkwell liners  but this one is definitely worth the price and I have repurchased this countless times, as it’s my go-to liner! I would definitely buy this again in the future.

VITA COCO COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil is one of my new found favourite products ever!! I absolutely love it and feel it is such an under rated product. It has so many uses, and I have used it for lot's of different things, including as a face cleanser, a moisturiser for extra dry areas, as a body oil, as a bath oil. Basically there are so many ways to use it. I have had the Vita Coco coconut oil in the 250ml size for a while now, and it lasts forever! You really don't need a lot per time and a little bit goes a very long way. I would definitely repurchase this and love coconut oil as a whole. This retails for £6.99 and you definitely get your moneys worth.

BEAUTY KITCHEN ABYSINNIAN OIL CLEANSER*
Beauty Kitchen's Abyssinian Oil Cleanser is vegan friendly, 100% natural and uses recycled packaging. It's also cruelty free, made in the UK and retails for £12.99 here. Overall, I enjoyed using this cleanser. It works to remove makeup and didn't irritate my eyes/skin at all. I also use it as a bare face cleanser and I loved that it wasn't stripping on the skin, and made my skin feel clean and fresh but also soft and replenished. All in all I would recommend this, and with a price point of £12.99 it's affordable and easy to get hold of! I would definitely consider buying this for myself in the future, and I love that they have good morals!

JURLIQUE ROSE SILK FINISHING POWDER*
The Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing powder is a very fine silky loose powder, which is translucent. It has a gentle rose scent, and leaves the skin feeling velvety. Overall I enjoyed using this and loved the way it set my makeup and left my skin looking matte. It is out of my budget at £26, but is a great option especially for those with more mature skin as it isn't cakey/drying. It's very natural looking too!

TISSERAND SWEET DREAMS BATH OIL
I really love bath oils, and this one was lovely. The scent is quite subtle which I like as it's not too overpowering, especially when using other products. It is a nice addition to a bath however and I did enjoy using it. This retails at £8.95, which I personally think it is worth and lasts a very long time, as you only need a small amount. I find it makes your skin feel softer when you get out of the bath, and is also relaxing.

LIZ EARLE CLEANSE & POLISH HOT CLOTH CLEANSER
I absolutely love this cleanser, it is great and I can see what all the hype is about. It really makes your skin feel fresh after, is great for makeup removal and doesn't hurt your eyes at all! This is great for making your skin still feel soft after and isn't stripping at all. At £16.50 for 100ml it is a little pricier than my usual budget but I genuinely think it is worth investing in, especially if you use it as more of a luxury. The texture is creamy and the scent is very subtle. All in all I loved this and would definitely consider repurchasing it.

MAC PROLONGWEAR PAINT POT - PAINTERLY
The MAC Prolongwear Paint Pot in Painterly is one of those products that I heard about for so long, that I bought myself. At £16.50, although it is a great product and definitely works as an eye base, I would recommend going for the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creme De Rose, which is very similar and comes in at £4.99, so is over two thirds cheaper! As I aid it is a great product, and I did get lots of use out of it, but isn't worth the high price if I am honest. The Prolongwear Paint Pots do last a long time, don't crease and work well as an eyeshadow base, but there are much cheaper alternatives in my opinion!

GILETTE VENUS SWIRL RAZOR*
This razor is great!! I managed to get so many uses out of it and it lasted well, and is definitely one of the best affordable/ high street razors I have tried. This is available to buy as the handle and then replacement heads, meaning there is minimal waste which I think is great. This razor has 5 blades, and the flexiball design meaning it adapts to the curves of your body more easily, which I would definitely say so. All in all I think this is a great product and something I would definitely buy myself.

NAOBAY EQUILIBRIA GEL TO MILK CLEANSER
I found this had quite an unusual texture and so was hard to use at first, but once mixed with water it was then easy to use. It did the job at cleansing my skin, but overall I wouldn't recommend or buy this myself. It was just too messy to use properly and wasn't for me.

NYX TAME & FRAME TINTED BROW POMADE - 03 BRUNETTE
Next I have the NYX Tame & Frame tinted brow pomade, in 03 Brunette. This is £5.50, and I love it. This wasmy go-to eyebrow product for a very long time, and I have only stopped using it as it has dried up. The colour is great, and suits my hair tone. It lasts a long time, is easy to use and is really affordable. I find pomade brow products are my favourite to use and I love how it looks. I would definitely repurchase this and will do so in the future!

That's everything! I hope you've all enjoyed reading this post!
